What’s the worth of living when obstacles and challenges do not come along?
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the game of life.
Just as we enjoy hearing the flip, flap, big, bang, boom; and as much as we love watching the dribble, surf, pass, run, kick, and as much as we crave for the heat, energy speed and intensity; have you realized that were you are now is a part of a game?
Holding the ball is not allowed in soccer. Traveling is restricted in basketball. Conforming a word with the arbiter before putting the tiles in the board means disqualification in scrabble. Jumping to a wrong square in chess is blunder. And, overdoing something is prohibited in the game of life.
Just like sports, everything is limited. Everyone is subjected to the laws of nature, church, and state. In a clearer sense, a sport is a replica of life.
As we move on, as life heats up, as the game intensifies, what worth is playing when we don’t learn lessons when we fall?
Friends? Let me now take you to the world where challenges, obstacles and lessons are often misinterpreted. Are you ready?
What is a sport? Well, let me tell you that sports takes a lot of courage, a stir of determination, a spark of graciousness in whatever will happen, and a spirit of teamwork. Do you have what is takes to be a certified sportsman?
Don’t give me that icy stare. You know, you’re only giving me a bad motion.
Very well. Now, what are the latest sports? What’s the talk of the town? What’s happening in your life?
I’m so tired listening about unity, sportsmanship and teamwork again and again being discussed in class. The latest update in sports like this year’s Olympics increases the fire. It is so ironic! Why are you patronizing such games where in fact you can’t demonstrate the values it brings in your lives? Why do you keep on spreading sportsmanship if every then and now, where in fact, you don’t practice what you preach? Oh come on!
Were you one of those who felt the heat, as the crowd grew loud and as the chill covered all over your body while watching the games cross-eyed? Well, let me tell you that I was also intensified, seeing you frolic with life, fearing what you will say, what you will do and what will you think. Wake up people! This is reality. This is the real game. You’re wasting every move; you’re wasting every minute.
Friends, don’t tell me that what you have seen on the screens, the teamwork and the spirit that were projected, the lessons that were shown, MAN! Don’t tell me that you have not absorbed any lessons from what you have witnessed. All those were just for fantasy? for thrills?
You, you, you, you are all ironic! Why are their many escaping duties, refusing to accept task, avoiding challenges, preferring to work alone and slandering the blames on co-workers?
Ladies and Gentlemen let me remind you that life is a game that those on screens, on the paper, the results, the achievements- it was just an exact copy of what life is. And that should be a call that you should work as one and be one. Function as a team, do your thing.
In a world were sports has become a tradition, culture, and a way of life, none much know it’s purpose, none much know what it is, none much inculcates the values and lessons it bring. Hoping for everyone’s conversion, I rest my case.
