Politicians, businessman, architects, lawyers and teacher- these and more are products of the University of the Philippines education system. But how did they make their dreams come true? How did these stars twinkle among other stars? How did they pass the challenges and obstacles that the school gives? How did they passed the University of the Philippines and graduated? Supposing they never sleep at night for the sake of studying. I think no. I think they are really UP students. They follow rules and regulations. They pass assignments on time, come to school on time, and answer the test honestly and on time. They surpass a lot of challenges and obstacles because they trust and always believing on their selves. They believe they can pass trials and challenges because they know they can achieve it. They never cheated.
Cheating makes your life miserable in the present. But in the future, they would be a double problem for you. This is why they graduate and made their selves shine among others.
What is not a UP learner? There are many things that compose a UP student a NOT. The UP student was made to represent a pure and loyal UP student. But the students of UP made this sentence false.
Most UP students believe so much to their selves. They forgot that no person has wings. They become so boastful to other schools. They are very confident that they never study once they got home or never listens to the teacher once they are in school. A UP student is not a king or a queen. He or she is an ordinary person who has a high intellect. He or she would have a high intellect if he studies his or her notes and listens to the lessons discussed by the professor. He or she must think they are wise and intelligent but he or she must remember that he or she must have something to discover. A UP student is not a coward. He or she must try to learn new things by discovering it in many ways: communicating, experimenting, and reasoning. A non - UP students does not know how to talk in front of the class. Never listens in class, does not know how to experiment new things. They never knew how and when to use their senses. He or she never uses his or her gift, his or her talents, and his or her intelligence. A non- UP student cannot make the right choice, the right thing, and the right way. He or she cannot solve the problems and the trials destined for him or her. A non- UP student is dependent and never free. A non- UP student cannot follow rules, signs, instructions, and directions. A non- UP student makes the spirit of the UP oblation extinct in his or her heart.. all said and many more make a UP student not.
We came from different school. We came from poor families. We are now studying in the University of the Philippines because we are destined to be here. We should act as one. We should be responsible and independent. This is trough freedom. Freedom exists if we make our minds as wide as the ocean and learn from the forces of nature. We must make the spirit of the UP oblation alive. We must spread our wings but keep our feet in the ground. We must believe that we can, we are a UP student. Then be it.
